  • Topeka Tractor Supply stores in several states have been designed; most recently in Colorado, North Dakota and Kansas. Additional efforts on the Corporate Prototype have been made to bring the typical store model up to date and made more efficient. Systems designed include plumbing, fire protection, natural gas, propane dispensing and tank installation, HVAC with central control, custom switchgear, efficient interior and exterior lighting and low voltage systems. Working with the corporate representatives and developers by responding to individual needs has made these projects on time and successful.

  • Several facilities in Topeka and Grand Junction, Colorado were designed by LSA including showroom, service shop and office areas. Chevrolet and Saturn brands were provided with new and renovated spaces to accommodate the strict branding guidelines. Particular challenges included slab and roof heating for the Colorado environs and system renovations to the original Topeka shop. Each facility was carefully coordinated to meet the owner’s desires and the architect’s solutions.

    • Latimer, Sommers and Associates, P.A. is a consulting engineering firm with over 50 years of experience in the design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, and environmental systems. The focus of the firm has always been putting the client relationship first, focusing on the needs of the client, and being creative with design solutions. Typical projects are facilities that include healthcare and medical, judicial and correctional, educational, office, retail, multi-family, religious, military, institutional, industrial, recreational, and others.

    • LSA’s present Association was founded in 1987 as the successor of two previous firms dating back to 1954. Professional engineers in the firm are licensed in 26 states and perform services in at least 15 of those each year. LSA’s design studio philosophy is to have each engineer qualified to perform both mechanical and electrical design for each project and carry it through from initial contact, through design, construction and commissioning which gives superior design consistency and coordination while reinforcing design solutions with on-site interaction with contractors. An extremely diligent and particular drafting staff translates the engineer’s concepts into consistent, easy-to-read construction documents which are the key to reliable bids and clarity for the constructor.

    • Innovation, outside the box, cutting edge. These are terms that are heard in the industry and we at Latimer, Sommers and Associates use them, but wisely, with scrutiny, and with sound judgment. Our approach to mechanical and electrical systems has made us the “Go-to Guy”. When there is a challenge to be met, there is no one in the industry that can bring to bear the qualifications, the creativity, the history within our team. With access to our subsidiary, Energy Management and Control Corporation, which gives direct input to the field commissioning issues of systems, the 50-year breadth of experience, the diversity of design approaches, and evolving technology, LSA solves problems. Whether it’s an existing facility or a new adventure for a client, each project is a prototype, there are no preconceived answers. We are dedicated to find the best solution.
