Student Recreation & Wellness Center - Washburn University

This new two-story Student Recreation and Wellness Center on Washburn University’s Campus, is a 36,000 SF facility located south of the football stadium. The building is complete with three interior basketball courts, elevated running track, climbing wall, cardio/weights area, aerobics/dance rooms, shower/locker rooms, wellness classrooms, and general offices. LSA provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design. Basic HVAC system involved packaged rooftop VAV air handlers and hot water boiler plant for VAV reheat.

YMCA Southwest Topeka Branch

LSA provided the mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for the new 40,667 s.f. community/fitness center. This facility features a 3,994 s.f. swimming pool area with slide and on-deck whirlpool, a full court gymnasium, a multi-purpose room for exercise classes, a weight and fitness room with elevated running track and Fitlinxx computerized fitness system, locker rooms, a youth activity room, and a nursery. The HVAC system includes general rooftop units for all areas except the pool and locker rooms, which feature energy recovery units. The lighting for the facility has been featured with IES and has won an IIDA Regional award through IES.
