BioProcessing and Industrial Value Added Program (BIVAP)
This new building houses pilot plants and support spaces for use by Kansas State University’s Department of Grain Science. Space will also be leased to private industry to develop materials from grain products. The building includes the two plants, laboratories, offices and conference rooms. Special features include a VAV/hot water reheat HVAC system, 100 PSI steam process boiler plant, fume hoods and exhaust system and an emergency generator for emergency operation. The pilot plants were designed for current and future equipment needs. 100 PSI steam, chilled water, domestic cold water, domestic hot water, reverse osmosis water, compressed air and natural gas are all provided in these spaces. Laboratory spaces also have natural gas and reverse osmosis water at the lab tables. Glass piping for waste and vent system is connected to a neutralization tank. These labs are 100% exhausted mixed-flow exhaust fan.
