Beach Music Hall - Emporia State University
Beach Music Hall was the first project to be bid and contracted under the "Crumbling Classrooms" program of the Kansas State Board of Regents. Beach Music Hall was designed to be completely renovated, excluding the Recital Hall, and to have approximately 21,000 square feet of new space added, making this the first new classroom construction on the Emporia State University campus in over twenty years. The new spaces contain rehearsal halls for instrumental and vocal ensembles, sectional practice rooms, instructional studios, a recording center, instrument storage rooms, and a library for sheet music. The addition includes new stair towers, adding functional use and life safety features to the existing building. Latimer, Sommers & Associates provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for the addition and remodel. Emig and Associates provided architectural design, construction documents and construction observation services. Total square footage for this project was 21,430 of new space and 33,100 of remodeled space.
