Roosevelt Hall - Emporia State University
Renovation of Roosevelt Hall on the Campus of Emporia State University consisted of converting an existing high school gymnasium into an experimental performance theater and classroom for dance and drama. To accommodate a tight construction schedule, a contract for demolition of the existing space was issued while the bidding documents were finalized for the renovation work. The demolition included removing a raised stage area and clearing the space for all interior walls, floors and ceilings. The renovation design included space for a "black box" experimental theater complete with sound system and lighting grid. The theater portion of the project also included a sound control booth, workshop for construction of stage properties, and storage. Also included in the remodeling was a general purpose drama and dance classroom, with dressing rooms, and several offices for faculty.
