Leavenworth Justice Center
This project consisted of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing design of a 140,000 square foot three-story building. The facility, located in Leavenworth, Kansas, contains a 140-person minimum security housing pod and attached administrative offices and courts. The building is air conditioned and has redundant boilers and domestic water heaters. The electrical system is backed-up by a diesel-powered emergency generator. The housing day rooms have a manual smoke purge system. An emergency operating center, complete with 911 communication, has an independent air conditioning chiller backed-up by the main building chiller. A UPS system provides an uninterruptible power source to the EOC and other sensitive equipment.
