USD 329 - Wabunsee High School Addition
LSA provided the MEP design for the addition to the Wabaunsee High School, which includes a gymnasium/cafeteria addition and new shop building.
This $6.5 million project entailed 3 different grade school room remodels and additions, a junior high addition, a new shop building, and a high school gymnasium/locker addition and room remodel.
Challenges for the project included careful budgeting to allow all of the promised scope of work to be completed as the contracts were sequentially bid as well as site and structural constraints.
These older facilities had many previous alterations which required much field investigation, coordination and creative solutions. Some cases allowed the HVAC systems to be continued and others required new sources of treatment.
Beyond the classroom and gym facilities, a new shop building for the high school provided up-to-date utilities, paint room, and classrooms. Also, the football field had a new track, lighting and grandstand facility constructed.
Grade school and junior high spaces that were new and renovated included media centers, kitchens, locker rooms, computer facilities, and standard classrooms.
